Moon
Moon was the first puppy Angela rescued in her trip in March 2025. Moon is a 9 month old female stray dog. I found Moon during my first trip to Egypt where I was investigating animal welfare. She was on the street with her mother, dad and siblings when she was just 2 months old. When I found her she was sick and facing a corner unable to move and isolated from the rest of the puppies. I took her to the clinic and the vet confirmed that she had a stomach infection as well as being covered in fleas and ticks. The vet prescribed antibiotics and she was looked after at a foster home. When she was well enough we attempted to return her to the street with her family and siblings.
It was a heart breaking and difficult decision. We were worried that after the two weeks away from her family her mother would reject her, and unfortunately that is what happened. As we left Moon there she followed us on the street as she had already bonded with us, this was very upsetting to see. We initially left her there overnight. However, unable to let the thought go that little Moon was out in the world on her own, the very next day we returned to pick up and take in our beloved dog who by now was used to living in the comfort of a home.
When we returned we found her siblings dead apart from one who suffered from a severe eye infection and we named this puppy Sun. Today, Moon is a very happy dog that lives in the shelter. She is actually the reason I decided to create a shelter for dogs as it was too difficult to return dogs to the street after seeing the suffering they had to endure.
